Confessions Of A Grindr Addict

5 October 2012 | 1:07 pm | Izzy Tolhurst

Irrespective of sexual preference, Confessions Of A Grindr Addict is truly insightful.

Former Grindr (the app dedicated to helping “find gay, bi and curious guys for free near you!”) addict Felix, has been Grindr free for some time now. He's even got a date, a real one where he has to make engaging conversation and interact as an actual human being. So why be nervous? He has nothing to be ashamed of, right? “Ok,” he admits, “there's a lot to be ashamed of” in that Apple device of his, and as Felix slogs his way through a bottle of wine, the audience has revealed for them the ecstasy, emotion and disaster that Grindr entails in his fittingly titled monologue, Confessions Of A Grindr Addict.

There were encounters with all kinds of fetishes – toes, fists, urine, ropes – and one that enables Felix to tell you, “I don't get called bucketarse for nothing!” But to reveal all such intimate moments would be to rob you of the joy and surprise that comes (pardon the pun) with seeing the show for yourself.

Irrespective of sexual preference, Confessions Of A Grindr Addict is truly insightful. It reveals what really goes on behind closed public toilet doors, is a commentary on modern gay relationships, and perhaps most poignantly, the struggle to find a deeper connection with others in a world overwhelmed by LOLs, FMLs and YOLOs.
