There's no reason that "approachable" should carry a negative connotation for music fans.
After all, it's a lot easier to make things people hate than vice versa! What Citizen Kay has achieved here is neat. There's a directness to his delivery - crisp enunciation and reliable bar structure - and a clarity to his ideas that makes us immediately comfortable. Isn't Love is a case in point: all big drums and rhetorical questions. Barred is neatly focused anger. Company I Keep is a melodic groove, an invitation to slip away. Never Again is the highlight, a contemplative piece born of late night walks and introspective moments. Approachable stuff.
