Every few years a synth-pop band will poke its head out to remind everyone in the vicinity to stop taking themselves – and the world – so seriously, and get back on the dancefloor for a boogie. Klaxons did it in 2007, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool did it in 2009, and in 2013 it's Capital Cities' turn. The Californian duo create radio-friendly party tunes, complete with cool melodies, a vintage synthesiser and some bitching basslines. It's fun, it's dance-worthy, but in three years' time there'll be someone else to remind us to dance once more.
