"Earnest but excellent."
There's been a dearth of anthemic, fist-pumping rock'n'roll of late, but fear not as Philadelphian quartet Beach Slang have stepped squarely into the breach with their debut offering.
It's resolutely punk, but of the melodic, catchy variety that bands like Jawbreaker and Knapsack (even The Replacements in parts) used to peddle. Frontman James Alex leaves no doubt as to his and his band's sincerity via the impassioned vocals he shouts over walls of riffs. Earnest but excellent.
