Album Review: B Wise - Semi Pro

As an MC, B Wise is more expressive than precise.

He can flex his muscle with a rapid-fire cadence but he's equally comfortable simply sprawling casually over a rhythm. Lines tangle, rhymes collide and then tumble off into the distance. In the wrong context, it could be frustrating or impenetrable. Fortunately, Semi Pro proves a sublimely professional package for that flow. Grounded in warm, soulful piano textures, it's an EP that's classy without being toothless - growls of sub-bass and snaps of hi-hat extending and building upon the artistry of the MC's flow with colour and cleverness. Recommended.
