"The attitudes of better-than-you, before-their-time "musicians" is inspired."
Somewhere in an alternative universe, Mr G moved to Berlin in the early noughties and discovered art-pop and hipsters before the rest of us had the chance. The Architects Of Sound: Arena Spectacular is a celebration of the best of the worst in elitist white culture, nailing every facet of the ethos on the head.
The problem is not in the delivery — the attitudes of better-than-you, before-their-time "musicians" is inspired - but rather in the fact that this sort of parody just doesn't have enough gumption to carry a one-hour show. The gig has peaks of stylistic hilarity, but ultimately it needs just a little more to be truly amazing.
The Architects Of Sound: Arena Spectacular plays til 2 Apr at the Butterfly Club, part of Melbourne International Comedy Festival
