'Africa' by Alex Underwood

Nairobi, Arusha and Zanzibar by regular contrib Alex Underwood..

I recently spent three weeks in Africa and I can say, wholeheartedly, that my time there far exceeded every expectation I had going into the trip. I started out in Nairobi, Kenya, spending a couple of days checking out the local wildlife parks before driving six hours south to Arusha, Tanzania. From there I did a four day safari drive through the Tarangire and Serengeti National Parks, as well as through the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Reserve - which is the coolest fucking place I've seen in all my life. I spent a week kicking back in tropical Zanzibar, before returning to Arusha to explore for a final few days.

Everything about Africa - the incredible food, dangerously cheap alcohol, breathtaking wildlife, vibrant local culture and above all else; the contagiously happy and welcoming local people - is unlike anything I have experienced anywhere else on Earth. If you have ever given any thought to making the journey, I honestly can't recommend it enough.

I'm no photographer, but I took a camera over and did my best to snap some half-decent shots whenever the opportunity arose. I hope they give you a small taste of what this wonderful continent has to offer.
