Police are asking for public assistance after a 20-year-old woman was reportedly sexually assaulted at Groovin The Moo in Bendigo last Saturday.

According to a statement released by Victoria Police this morning, the festival-goer was dancing by herself at the event just after 4pm when an unknown man approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her.

A passer-by saw the woman in distress and quickly came to her aid.

Sexual Crime Squad detectives are now looking for the offender, believed to be 18-years-old.
