A 21-year-old woman has died at NSW's Lost Paradise festival after being hit by a falling branch.

As Brisbane Times reports, the woman was helping set up the Glenworth Valley-based event on Wednesday when she sat down in front of a tree which a branch fell off of, hitting her on the head.

She then went into cardiac arrest before being treated by paramedics and transported to Westmead Hospital via a Careflight helicopter.

Police said she had arrived to the hospital in a critical condition with head, spinal and shoulder injuries.
