Just because the ground's a little chillier and you're breathing a bit more dragon steam than usual, it doesn't mean that winter is the time to stay inside.
Umbrella Winter City Sounds is a Music SA initiative that features more than 260 gigs across 63 venues throughout July and August across the city of Adelaide to brighten up those dreary winter days just a little bit.
The program is almost overwhelming in the sheer volume of acts lined up, but we've done the rough work for you in picking out some of the most promising shows around town.

Adelaide's first pop-up musical experience, the Coconut Club transforms abandoned Adelaide spots into tropical musical havens. The best part? The location is kept secret until right before the show. The intrigue is real.
When & where: Jul 31, Secret location
Join five local bands for a night of celebrating two of the UK's most enigmatic and influential rock acts. Take a step back to pay tribute to dark-indie-punk-electro vibes.
When & where: Jul 30, Crown & Sceptre Hotel
The fresh and unique audio/visual experience brought to a 'public lounge room' by Fresh 92.7 promises to be an intimate and warming experience. Electro Live is bringing four local artists to an atmospheric space, creating songs for an audience in a unique exchange so you can experience the processes and techniques behind the music as well as the sounds themselves.

One of the more eclectic shows on the bill, Pop Punk Party time is utilising the seventh floor of an inner-city carpark to create a whole bunch of loud noise and ruckus. A huge lineup of Adelaide's freshest pop punk bands and DJs are set to bring a rad vibe to presenting music in its rawest form.
When & where: Aug 6, Wyatt Street UPark
A line-up of four awesome local acts over four nights, including Salty n She on Wednesdays, Bessie, Billie, Dinah on Thursdays and Jennifer deGrassi trio on Fridays. Culminating in an open mike arvo and evening showcase on Saturday, the shows promise to bring a fresh mix of genres and sounds to a cosy winter setting.
When & where: Jul 20 — 30, Tincat Cafe
Folk around a bit on a night of royalty, class and elegant vibes as the sultry sounds of local favourites Donnarumma and The Skeleton Club echo throughout the historical Adelaide University building. Enjoy a night of music, art, local food and wine and a generally highly-cultured experience.
When & where: Jul 21, Elder Hall
A totally intriguing and mesmerising idea is set to take over the Grace Emily, as audiences are invited to film moments of Sons Of Zoku's set in pieces that will later be stitched together to create an honest and beautiful representation of the evening. The collective and intimate experience will be accompanied by The Winter Gypsy and should make for a colourful and eclectic evening.

An all-aussie, all-local, all-heavy fuzz punk show staged by three of Adelaide's finest up and coming punk bands. We think they like goon. A good old fashioned riot fest with plenty of big noises and thrashing heads.

Adelaide songstress MANE is celebrating the forthcoming release of her debut EP House of Horror with a show at the Bluebee Room before she hits the road. Discover your new favourite artist before they've even been found yet, and be captivated by MANE's free spirit and incredible vocals.

The Adelaide Guitar Festival will be taking over pubs, clubs, bars, restaurants and exhibition spaces across SA to bring twangy goodness to your favourite hot spots. A series of free and ticketed gigs involves a tonne of different acts across different genres to make sure all your string cravings are satisfied.
