Unida & Truckfighters To Headline CherryRock

Two of the best stoner rock bands in the world to blow the roof off Cherry this May.

More Unida More Unida

There's going to be another almighty showcase of stoner rock goodness happening in Melbourne's AC/DC Lane as the CherryRock festival takes place for the seventh year running.

Taking place in and around Melbourne's iconic Cherry Bar, the event brings some seriously heavy acts together in an all-out celebration of the beauty of rock'n'roll; this year they're doing so with some very special guests.

Headlining the event will be Unida, the recently reformed band featuring members of Kyuss and Slo Burn. Fronted by the legendary John Garcia, the band released the seminal stoner classic Coping with the Urban Coyote back in 1999 but split in 2003 and hadn't been heard from since. News of their reformation last year was exciting enough, but hearing they'll be in Australia this year is just crazy.

Not far behind them is Swedish stoner masterminds Truckfighters, their Gravity X record is considered by many stoner devotees to be one of the best records in the genre to be released in the past couple of decades. Hell, Josh Homme said that they are “the best band that ever existed”, which is pretty serious praise.

The rest of the bill features some of the best heavy acts in the country right now, including King Parrot, Barbarion, Matt Sonic & the High Times, The Murlocs, Mammoth Mammoth, Gay Paris, The Surefire Midnights, Drunk Mums and Battle Axe Howlers.

The two-stage event hits the Cherry Bar and AC/DC Lane on Sunday 5 May from Noon through til around 9.30pm. You can grab tickets through the Cherry Bar website right now for $70.
