Another week in the music industry, another reason to write yourself off this evening (if that's your kinda thing) and leave it til tomorrow to catch up on what the hell has been happening in this godforsaken business.

The biggest news was that of Pendulum calling it quits, saying there's no plans for anymore albums or live shows as Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen admit that they just have more fun playing in Knife Party.

Sadly a Radiohead road crew member lost his life in a stage collapse in Toronto at the weekend.

A couple of major festival announcements dominated the news as well, with the 2012 installment of the Parklife Festival winning over electro and dubstep fans in particular, while the BIGSOUND Live showcase series announced a mammoth, and diverse, range of acts to be heading to Brisbane this September.

On the industry side of things UNFD looked to branch out into Europe with a new deal, while Albert's must have taken a trip up north and enjoyed themselves a fair bit because this week they inked deals with Gold Coast's Oceanics and Brisbane pop dynamos Hungry Kids Of Hungary. In the US, The Grates are finally going to release Secret Rituals, this time through Vagrant Records. Undoubtedly there'll be plenty of talk about the EMI Sale in the days to come; at least it's all G by our New Zealand bros.

Could Brisbane really lose The Tivoli? Could Melbourne really lose The Palace? It's definitely possible.

Missy Higgins managed to score a second week at the top of the ARIA Album Charts, beating out roots machine Xavier Rudd, whose Spirit Bird snagged second position, and both artists keeping superstar Usher at bay; he debuted at number three with Looking 4 Myself.
