“Print is dead” says Peer Group
Monthly music industry magazine The Music Network has today announced that it will cease the publication of its print edition.
Published by Peer Group, who also have print interests in weekly Sydney street press The Brag, the magazine announced today, “Print is dead. Gone the way of video-tape, the CD and Jesus Christ before it, print media had a remarkable and resilient run before inevitably succumbing to the ravages of time, and the advancement of mankind. The Internet didn't help either.”
Peer Group's CEO Adam Zammit is currently in America for the SXSW conference, and has not yet responded to email, but The Music Network editor Nathan Jolly told theMusic.com.au today that Peer Group will remain involved with The Brag.
He said that the cost associated with running a glossy magazine was the main reason that the print edition was folding.
