The Brightside Opens Team Submissions For BASEketball Season 2

The weekly sports-themed piss-up will also shift to a new day for its second run.

After a heartily received inaugural season, which saw the motley crew of The Mateos take out its first-ever championship title, BASEketball Australia has announced it will return to Brisbane venue The Brightside for another round of booze-fuelled sportsmanship and light-hearted emotional abuse this September.

Acknowledging that there's no need to fix what isn't broken, organisers are adamant that, as well as being "bigger and better", the league's return will see all the hallmarks of season one — "The plays, the tactics, the psyche-out and the insults" — will be making return appearances in a couple of months' time.

Although the league will be staying at its established home of The Brightside, the second season of BASEketball Australia will be making at least one change: it's moving to a new day, trading in the hangover-addled Saturday afternoons of yore for the much more agreeable time slot of Wednesday nights.

The first game of the new season hits on Wednesday 14 September. Remember, you will need at least three people, a team name and uniforms (not to mention an emotionally devastating array of psyche-outs to vanquish your opposition) to take part, and there will be sign-up fees at the start of the season. If the response to the initial season's intake is any indication, spots will no doubt fill up pretty quickly for the next go, so move quickly or live in regret.
