Hear fresh cut 'Caroline' ahead of the band's debut LP release

Stalwart Brisbane five-piece The Belligerents are getting ready to unleash their eagerly awaited debut album on the world but, before it arrives, the band are treating their faithful public to new goods in the form of fresh cut Caroline as well as announcing a solid run of tour dates all around the country this October.

The album, Science Fiction, won't land until November, so it's fortunate for us that Caroline has arrived when it has to help further tide us over, following on from the sweet psych-rock tastes left by March release Before, I Am. And, damn, does it sate — from its jaunty, simple beginnings right through to its sprawling, arpeggiated crescendo-cum-dance break on the way out. It's a transition and build that begs you to hit the replay button pretty much as soon as the track stops, and there's no good reason to fight yourself on the urge.

The album itself won't be released until November, though, so the band are making sure we're sated on the live front too, embarking on their eight-date sojourn in honour of the new single from Sunday 2 October, with an appearance at Wollongong's renowned Yours & Owls Festival.

The Belligerents will also take in showings in Launceston (Hotel Tasmania), Melbourne (Northcote Social Club), Sydney (Newtown Social Club), Gold Coast (Elsewhere Bar), Adelaide (Rocket Bar), Perth (Jack Rabbit Slims) and their home stomping ground of Brisbane, where they wrap up at the Woolly Mammoth on Friday 28 October.
