The 19th Annual South Australian Screen Awards Nominees Have Been Announced

'Smashed' comes out on top with eight SASA nominations.

The South Australian Screen Awards (SASA), a celebration and promotion of the the South Australian film industry, is taking place at Adelaide’s The Mercury Cinema on 12 May.

The nominees for the awards have been announced, with Smashed coming out on top with eight nominations.

The film, produced by Michael Clarkin and directed by Sean Lahiff, is up against Jemima The Fish, Maurice’s Symphony, My Light and Spin Out in the Best Short category.

The Best Music Video category celebrates the South Australian contemporary music scene and has the highest amount of award entries. This year the nominees includes Wasted Wanderers In Your Fire (produced and directed by Adam Lemmey), Nakatomi’s Alive and Abbey Howett’s The Mother - both produced and directed by Liam Somerville.

The four nominees in the Web Series category include Freemales (written and directed by Stephanie Jaclyn), Almost Midnight (produced by Alex Keay and directed by Stephen Banham), Goober (produced by Kirsty Stark and directed by Brendon Skinner and Simon Williams) and Lost In Pronunciation (produced by Julia De Roeper and directed by Richard Jasek) - the later three all made for ABC iview.
