Will The Temper Trap manage to top the ARIA Charts with their new album later this week?

More The Temper Trap More The Temper Trap

The Temper Trap have made a strong start to the chart week, evident through the iTunes charts which update regularly throughout the day. The band released their second and self-titled album last Friday, which immediately saw them shoot to the of the iTunes album chart.

Today they find themselves holding second and third positions on the chart, with the deluxe version of the album second and the standard third. Unsurprisingly, it's Adele's album 21 that is keeping them from the top spot there.

The splitting of sales across the two versions is unavoidable as iTunes records each version as a different release. The ARIA Charts, which will be unveiled this coming weekend, will combine sales of the two versions across digital and physical formats.

The Deluxe Edition is - at time of publish - at ten on the New Zealand chart as well.

Because figures for the iTunes charts aren't available, it's unclear if sales of the two versions combined amount to more than Adele at the moment. This week Adele is second on the ARIA Charts, behind The Voicejudge Keith Urban.

The Temper Trap, who are expected to be one of Australia's biggest musical exports this year, recently dropped into theMusic.com.au's HQ to play a few tracks. As well as Need Your Love, they also performed a brilliant acoustic version of Trembling Hands. Watch it now.
