Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers have announced a landmark partnership with Mom + Pop Music, alongside the release of a spellbinding new single and news of a deluxe reissue for their debut album.

The beloved alt-rockers will remain a part of the Domestic La La family for Australia and New Zealand, with their signing to Mom + Pop covering the rest of the global market (with Warner Chappell onboard to cover publishing duties). It comes ahead of Teen Jesus’ first tour of the US, where they’ll share the stage with the likes of Pearl Jam, Alanis Morissette, Kim Gordon and IDLES at Eddie Vedder’s Ohana festival.

Launching the partnership is Dull, an emotionally charged track that feels a little more lowkey than Teen Jesus’ usual fare, but is still teeming with energy and charm. It features Canadian grunge duo Softcult, and in a group statement, Teen Jesus said they’ve “been fans of Softcult from afar for a long time”, so they were “stoked” when Phoenix and Mercedes Arn-Horn said they “were keen to record some parts for the song”.

Touching on the story behind the track itself, Teen Jesus frontperson Anna Ryan said: “Dull has similar themes to [previous single] I Used To Be Fun. We had been talking about how it feels to not have that motivation like we used to, to go out and party, and that it’s often harder to sit with yourself and be alone with your thoughts rather than just distracting yourself with thing after thing!

“The lyrics ‘find it hard to take it slow, burning out and now it’s shows’ really resonates with me and I think it’s like coming to terms with the fact that distracting yourself constantly is unsustainable. It’s good to learn to just sit with stuff and take it frikken easy!!”

Dull will be featured on a deluxe reissue of Teen Jesus’ debut album, I Love You – now dubbed I Love You Too –  with the tracklist rounded out with another two new songs: Please Me and we thought it would be a good time but it was a bad time. The LP will be released on September 20, with pre-saves available here.

I Love You was initially released last October, and notably debuted at #6 on the ARIA Charts. Just this month, it won the AIR Award for Best Independent Rock Album or EP. The album’s success was recently discussed in a panel at this year’s Indie-Con.

In other Teen Jesus news, the band recently opened up about how difficult it is to navigate the music industry in 2024, dispelling notions that success equals money.
