A multimillion dollar deal with Samsung will create a more interactive Opera House experience.

The Sydney Opera House has today announced it will work in collaboration with Samsung Electronics Australia in an effort to “transform the Opera House experience” in a multimillion dollar deal that will make Samsung the Opera House's first ever Principal Partner.

With over 8.2 million people visiting the Opera House precinct yearly, Samsung will look to work with the iconic tourist attraction and performance space to “create a richer, more sophisticated and interactive Opera House experience”, using their own technology such as interactive digital display screens and mobile technologies.

Live sites throughout the precinct are on the cards, while a long term goal is the establishment of a Multimedia Education Facility that will allow patrons of all ages to experience and explore the art created in the space in new ways.

One of the partnership highlights is a competition for the public to submit "images of life in Australia" to be projected onto the Opera House sails on April 23.

Samsung and the Opera House will be looking to spread the Opera House experience to homes around the world in new ways as well. Recently, a series of concerts have been broadcast live through the Opera House YouTube channel, one would imagine further initiatives such as this will be on the cards in the future.
