Also on the agenda are free theatre tickets for high school kids
Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore is considering having musical instruments for loan at libraries as part of a revamp of the city's cultural scene.
Last night the Council endorsed a Creative City Cultural Policy Discussion Paper and have opened it up to submissions from the public. Other services that have been suggested include evening childcare so parents can have a night out on the town and unsold theatre tickets being donated to high school students.
“These are just some of the ideas that have emerged so far as we ask Sydneysiders what kind of cultural life they want in the city,” Moore said. “As arts funding from other levels of government and private investors becomes increasingly uncertain, we need to work how best to support creativity and culture.”
Earlier this year a Sydney Live Music Taskforce was established, the outcomes of which will be considered in the arts-wide cultural policy.
