SXSW Film Curator Praises Australian Film Innovation

Staff Writer

And she's brought her favourite SXSW-featured film clips to screen here.

Currently in Australia as a guest of the St Kilda Film Festival, Short Film Programmer and Film Festival Co-ordinator for SXSW, Claudette Godfrey is happy to be in the country that has brought her so much cinematic joy.

"There are a lot of innovative short films coming out of Australia," Godfrey told theMusic, "and I routinely include them as part of my program at SXSW, so it seemed like a fun opportunity to share the work of my filmmakers with the Australian audience.”

The first of Godfrey's SXSW and Texan short film/music video sessions screened tonight (Saturday 25 May). However the Best Of SXSW Music Video and her two Best Of SXSW sessions are to screen over the coming week.

“Australian audiences can expect too see some of my favourite films from the last five years of SXSW," promised Godfrey. "They showcase the Best Of SXSW through narrative, documentary and animated shorts. The Best Of SXSW Music Video program highlights the unique music-focused component of SXSW Film."
