Sub Pop Founder Diagnosed With Parkinson's Disease

Jonathan Poneman is speaking out on his condition

Co-founder of iconic Sub Pop Records, Jonathan Poneman has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, he's confirmed in an interview with The Seattle Times.

Poneman admitted he felt relieved when he was diagnosed after a long period of feeling constantly drowsy and less mobile and unenergetic.

“My love of life and its precious elements became more vivid at the thought of seeing them fade away,” he said. “When you're confronted with the concrete, finite aspects of life ...

“As ironic as it sounds, I am truly grateful to the disease.”

Poneman founded Sub Pop with Bruce Pavitt back in 1988 and we're at the forefront of the Seattle grunge movement that reigned in the early 90s. They were largely responsible for launching the careers of Nirvana and Mudhoney.
