Splendour In The Grass producers have addressed traffic delay complaints made by many punters who attended the festival, with some being forced to wait for up to three hours for buses to get off site on Friday.

However, as ABC reports, the transport issues did not seem to improve as some campers were still stuck at the North Byron Parklands for several hours on Monday afternoon, a day after the festival wrapped.

Producer Jessica Ducrou issued a statement yesterday responding to the criticism.

"While some campers were still onsite up until 3.45pm, (our campgrounds are open until 5.00pm) we did actively promote to all patrons, via both social media and Splendour's electronic newsletter, to expect delays," Ducrou said.

"We also made sure that a number of stalls, serving both food and water, were readily available. It's important to note that we spend three days receiving campers and everyone wants to depart in a short period of time on Monday morning.

"Each year we warn our patrons of the potential delays, advise them of the facilities that will be available onsite and encourage them to relax and delay their exit. While we endeavour to improve our systems each year, some delays are inevitable and consistent with camping festivals around the world."
