SINGLE PREMIERE: Ruby Tuesdays - 'Why You Always Gotta Fight Me'

Got a touch of Mondayitis? Yeah, us too. Well good thing that Ruby Tuesdays have got this soulful little number to help get you through. 

Why You Always Gotta Fight Me came about after frontman Shaun Snider chose to shake up the way he was working and writing.

"There is a concept in teaching called ZPD which basically means you can’t know what you don’t know, which sounds simple enough but I read it as if you keep listening to the same music, reading the some stuff you’ll keep writing the same shit," he shares.

"So I really tried to read and play stuff out of my normal sphere of influence. Why You Always Gotta Fight Me is the first song I wrote that using that kind of method.  

"Around the time I was in a difficult point of a relationship and started reading a lot of poems that really kind of reflected how I felt. I read Funeral Blues by WH Auden and just fell in love with the words. The first lines in the song are from that poem. 

"I read another poem by Charlotte Mew that had the line 'the things that kill us seem blind to the death they give' which just floored me."
