SIMA and MIJF team up for a number of Australian firsts.

The acts making up this year's International program presented by the Sydney Improvised Music Association have just been announced, with the organisation once again looking to showcase a diverse range of avant-garde, exciting and virtuosic jazz to the people of Sydney. Once again there are a number of shows being presented in conjunction with the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, meaning jazz lovers don't necessarily have to go south of the border to get their fix of some of the world's most exciting jazz acts.

On Friday 25 May Italy's Luca Ciarla Quartet play The Sound Lounge, Oliver Lakes' Tarbaby make their first appearance in Sydney as an ensemble on Tuesday 5 June, Israel's Eli Degibri Quartet play two shows in the series – Tuesday 5 June at VJ's in Chatswood and Wednesday 6 June at Bluebeat – while the UK's free jazz masterminds Trevor Watts and Veryan Weston team up for a big one at the Sound Lounge on Saturday 9 June and the Motif Ensemble from Norway close out the program with their performance at the Sound Lounge on Wednesday 13 June.
