Rove McManusAfter leaving behind his hugely successful late night talk show Rove Live back in 2009, Rove McManus is reportedly set to make his comeback next year on a rival network.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the comedian will host a new talk show on Channel Nine which is expected to launch in 2017 after he was reportedly spotted filming test spots in the network's studio space.
The move could be a homecoming of sorts for McManus, as Rove Live first premiered on Nine back in 1999 before it moved to the Ten network.
McManus did launch another LA-based talk show in 2011, Rove LA, which screened on Foxtel, though it only lasted until the end of 2012.
"Yes, it is unexpected to be bringing in someone outside of the stable," a Nine source said.
"There will be a few noses out of joint, but Rove has the goods.
"If anyone can bring the audience back to late night, he is the man."
During its run, Rove Live featured a number of big name musical acts including Prince, David Bowie, Blink-182, Silverchair, Katy Perry, KISS and many more.
McManus currently co-hosts the 2DayFM breakfast show, so it is as yet unclear if he will stay on with the network if the late night show does come to fruition.
