Melbourne man Andrew Crosbie's gold-finish Nissan was stolen from outside his house this morning

Melbourne sound engineer Andrew Crosbie is on the lookout for thousands of dollars' worth of microphones and accessories after his car was stolen from outside his house in Elwood this morning.

Crosbie describes the vehicle, registration NLN 820, as a "beaten up" 1992 Nissan Pulsar with metallic-gold finish that itself "is nothing special — a mess of parking passes and the usual backseat rubbish", he said — but whose boot contained his valuable microphone kit, an army-green 1520 Pelican plastic hard case on wheels that itself was home to a litany of expensive and fancy-sounding mics and equipment, including a Radial Duplex DI, Radial JDI, Palmer DI9, Audix i5 and several others, along with "various leads and adapters and clips".

"All mics are in black pouches and most of those are marked and labeled with fluro green tape," Crosbie wrote in a social media plea. "I will be able to recognize any of this gear by sight as it's all road-worn and marked up. If you see any of this stuff or its offered for sale to you please let me know. I'll gladly pay to get it back."

Monetary worth aside, one can only imagine the enormous sentimental value the kit holds to Crosbie, who has taken it on the road with him over the past several years and used its content to do great justice to a pretty damn impressive list of Aussie acts.

"This kit has travelled the country for many years for Whitley, Kingswood, City Calm Down, Japanese Wallpaper, Gordi, Montaigne, Tired Lion, Magic Bones, Kllo, Banoffee, Slum Sociable, Lurch & Chief, Hein, Northeast Party House, Big Scary, Hunting Grounds, Asta, Joy, Glass Towers, Kimbra, Ali Barter, Thelma Plum and a tonne of others," he told The Music.

"I have just used it extensively for Japanese Wallpaper's sold-out national tour and was just about to use it for City Calm Down's national tour and upcoming Falls Festival appearance."

So, if you'd like those shows to sound as decent as they can, keep your eyes peeled around Melbourne for any of the below items popping up in unlikely places, and drop Crosbie a line if you see anything — otherwise, his post can be shared here.
