The Fremantle-bred performer has come a long way in a short time

Melbourne-based, Fremantle-bred singer-songwriter Kathryn Rollins has unveiled the primal video for her pulsating new single, Cut & Paste It, and theMusic.com.au is thrilled to be able to present to you its world premiere here today.

A world away from the finger-picked acoustic vibe of her 2013 debut EP Reckless, the new cut takes Rollins into starkly different territory laced with electronic, ambient and ephemeral elements that paint a picture of an artist in the throes of real-time maturation. And, at just 24 years of age, this kind of rapid growth is to be expected.

“When I went into making Reckless I was really new to recording,” Rollins said in a statement. “I really didn't have much of an idea of what people did in the studio. Making that EP was the start of me becoming interested in production, and over the next two years I began working on my skills, developing an interest in electronic music, parties, festivals... that sort of stuff.”

Cut & Paste It, which serves as the lead single for her impending second EP, was produced with assistance from Steven Schram, who has previously worked with acts such as The Cat Empire and Birdy, and was recorded in both his and Rollins' bedroom studios in January this year.

Until that's all done, it would be worth keeping an eye on the artist's Facebook page for future updates regarding the EP and forthcoming tours. And, in the interim, you can have a look at what went into the making of the Cut & Paste It clip here:
