The Sydney jungle popsters and East African musician show the power of collaboration.
We have our first taste of The Key Of Sea Volume 2 today, as we premiere a video featuring Australian jungle-pop exponents Jinja Safari teaming up with East African asylum seeker Kinfe Geshu (who performs under the name Kinfe).
After sharing files back and forth over the internet, Jinja Safari traveled to Melbourne and met with Kinfe at Black Pearl Studios where they set to work on this track, Silence Of The Guns; this clip captures that process and shows how this coming together embodied all the best aspects of cooperation, collaboration and friendship. It's a heartwarming look at the power of something like The Key Of Sea project, which matches well known Australian artists with musicians who have brought their musical heritage from their home country seeking a better life in this nation.
The Key Of Sea Volume 2, which is supported by Amnesty International, features Australian artists as varied as Paul Kelly, Chet Faker, Dick Diver, Sietta and Kim Salmon, to name but a few, teaming up with some great musicians from other cultures in a beautiful cultural exchange and collaboration. It is released on Friday 19 October through MGM.
