Touring agency Your Mate Bookings is calling on fans to “support the bands with whatever they have available” at upcoming power metal shows they are hosting after Virgin Australia Airlines reportedly lost up to $10,000 worth of band merchandise in transit.
Your Mate Bookings is currently touring several international power metal bands across Australia, including Sweden’s Dream Evil, Japan’s BRIDEAR and our own Wicked Smile. Known for championing the “underground, independent and cult-followed bands and artists from around the world”, the loss of thousands of dollars of band merchandise is a financial blow to the international artists under Your Mate’s wing who are seeking to break out overseas.
In a Facebook post, the agency expressed frustration over Virgin’s mishap, asking fans who are attending upcoming Dream Evil, BRIDEAR and Wicked Smile shows in Melbourne and Perth to invest in what remains. Luggage lost in the incident include vinyls, CDs, patches, badges, beer coolers and more.
“The bands could lose up to $10k in income due this absolute debacle and incompetence,” they wrote. “Please support the band and tour by purchasing the items available from the band.”
Virgin Australia has made contact with Your Mate Bookings online, citing that they “understand delayed baggage can most certainly be frustrating and we do apologise for any inconveniences caused”, before referring the agency to the Baggage Services team phone number. However, there is no note made on whether the lost items have been recovered or if the agency and bands will be compensated.
The Music has reached out to Virgin Australia Airlines and Your Mates Bookings for comment.
