ON THE SCREEN
Film buffs, read on! FLiCKERFEST is bringing a variety of choice movies to Camelot Outdoor Cinema as part of their event, Short Films Licensed to Thrill!. Grab a blanket and breathe in that crisp, fresh air as you watch some of the best short films from all over the world. Make sure you get in quick, because this event is only running from 5 – 8 Mar.

SUPER STATUS
Everybody’s favourite Super Best Friends are finally releasing their debut album Status Updates on 20 Mar, which of course they need to tour to launch and celebrate with y’all. The punk-rock trio’s national tour comes to 27 Mar, The Bakery; 28 Mar, Four5Nine Bar; and 29 Mar, HyperFest, Midland Oval (all ages).

A MOTLEY GROUP
Rock icons Mötley Crüe have confirmed dates for their highly anticipated Australian leg of their last ever tour with Alice Cooper. Perth Arena, 23 May, with tickets on sale at 11am on 4 Mar. The group’s newest single All Bad Things has also been released, available now.

GOOD TIMES
Under arrangement with {move}, Good Company and The Monarchy are bringing dance floor master Theo Parrish to Connections Nightclub on 27 Feb. If you’d prefer to chill in the lounge, you’ll be treated to technoid landscapes from the likes of Messrs Annert, Phillips, Milanov and Hollywood.

POWER, RAW POWER
Courtesy of RTRFM, Raw Power will see some of Perth’s hardest, fastest and loudest perform at Amplifier Bar on 14 Mar. On the line-up for RTRFM’s third fundraising event for 2015 are Rubber Daddy, The Shakeys, Emu Xperts, Bläckwitch and Skullcave, with blistering punk rock interludes on the decks from RTRFM’s Burn The Airwaves DJs and Friday’s Out to Lunch presenter, Sandy. Warning, it’s not for the faint of heart.

 

HEAD HUNTERS
With three EPs and a 4-way split 7” to their name, Perth denim lords Scalphunter are now working on taking their recordings to the next level, with two brand new singles recorded and their debut album slated for a release in the latter half of the year. To help release this double A-side in style, they’ve lined up a string of local launch shows in WA as well as a Melbourne tour, which will see them getting noticed on the east side. Don your best denim jacket and jeans and head to Prince Of Wales, 6 Mar; Jimmy’s Den, 13 Mar; and Railway Hotel, 22 Mar.

LOCAL LOVIN’
2014 WAM Song Of The Year nominees Rag N’ Bone are launching their first EP, A Woman Under The Influence, at The Bakery. The five-song 12” vinyl is the band’s quest to bare all with their gutsy indie-rock stylings, and it’ll be a killer night for local music all ‘round with Doctopus, Childsaint, Shit Narnia, Aborted Tortoise and The Pissedcolas all lending their support.

BYE SUMMER
Sets On The Beach is bringing the party back to the beach for one last hoorah this season. 22 Mar will see transformed into a new seaside party oasis for one last beach bonanza, featuring a whole bunch of national and international acts to get you dancing in the sand. The Aston Shuffle, Basenji, Cyril Hahn, GRMM, Kele, Kilter, Roland Tings, Thief and Wordlife will be performing on the day, so head on down and make the most of the last bit of summer.

WESTEROS IS COMING
Get excited, Game Of Thrones fans, Finn Jones and Daniel Portman are bringing Westeros to Oz Comic-Con Perth and Adelaide this April. Jones produces butterflies in the belly across the Seven Kingdoms in his role as Ser Loras Tyrell, the Knight of Flowers, on Game of Thrones, while Portman is beloved for his role as loyal squire to Tyrion Lannister, Podrick Payne. Fans who attend Oz Comic-Con Perth and Adelaide will enjoy professional photograph and autograph opportunities with the stars, as well as have the chance to attend exclusive question and answer panels across the weekend. Die-hards will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets to a dinner with the pair, but tickets are strictly limited so make sure you get onto it quickly. MORE SUN KIL
American rock and folk act Sun Kil Moon announces a new tour date for the west coast. He will be playing songs of the latest record, Benji, release last year. He’s also working on a new album, so we’ll see whether anything will feature off that at these shows. He performs a new date, 25 Mar, The Bakery.

 

 

 


GET PSYCHED
UK electro duo Audiojack will embark on a March national tour in celebration of the release of their new Psychonautics EP, released last week. The group are used to bringing the good times, and that’s what they’ll convey to The Stables Bar, 8 Mar.

NEW SOUNDS
Ministry Of Sound Clubbers Guide To 2015 is here, with this year’s experts, Glover and Krunk, curating the best tracks of right now and the freshest up-and-coming hits for your listening pleasure. The best way to experience them will be to stand up and dance as the Clubbers Guide to 2015 hits Villa Nightclub on 4 Apr for the first Ministry Of Sound party for the year! Glover, Krunk, Jackness, Lukas Wimmler and Simon Paiker will all be at the decks on the evening.

JENNY AND THE SIX
Microwave Jenny, the alter-ego of husband and wife musical force Tessa and Brendon Boney, are set to release a brand new EP, Microwave Jenny & The Six Song EP, early next month. To celebrate, the duo will be taking on the country with an extensive national tour, which comes to Prince Of Wales Hotel, Bunbury, 9 May; Ellington Jazz Club, 10 May.

BIRTHDAY BASH
Over the last five years, Life Is Noise has expanded from presenting Perth shows for the likes of Boris, Kurt Vile, Built To Spill, Dead Meadow, and starting up Beaufort Street Festival, to promoting national tours for trailblazing instrumental acts like Grails, Tortoise and Earth, and more. Along the way, there’s been a couple of festivals – This Is Nowhere and Slanted & Enchanted – and a whole stack of New Year’s Eves, Easter Thursdays and random parties. To commemorate five years, they’ve put together a special show featuring some of Perth’s most explosive acts, including Drowning Horse, Mt Mountain, Puck, Fait, Kaan, Coblis and DJ Wil Bixler. 2 Apr at The Bakery.

 

NEVER SURRENDER
Melbourne favourites The Smith Street Band are playing a couple of massive shows Wednesday and Friday night at the Rosemount Hotel, plus Thursday night at Prince Of Wales.

 

 

 

FOR THE CAUSE
Conversations at The Bird celebrates the women in Perth music. Half of the show’s proceeds will be donated to Starick House Women’s Refuge. This Saturday Mei Saraswati, Felicity Groom, Hayley Beth, Erasers, Furchick and Laurel Fixation perform.

THE FUTURE IS HERE
Future Music Festival is taking place this Sunday at HBF Arena, Joondalup. It’s bigger than ever, with Avicii, Drake, The Prodigy, Afrojack, Knife Party, Hilltop Hoods, Timmy Trumpet, Die Antwoord, Darude and heaps more on the bill.

ALLEY WOOP
Ambar is turning 14 on Friday, and they want you to celebrate with them at this year’s first alley party. The night’s sure to be an absolute banger, featuring the likes of DNGRFLD, Miss Demeanour, Pussymittens and much, much more.

DREAM TIME
Kinetic Dreaming, a festival of art, music and lifestyle, is making its way to 318 Cook Road, Mooliabeenee across the weekend. It’ll be non-stop live music and art, including DJ acts Electrypnose, Junkadelic, King Owl and more.

VIBING FROM THE SOUTH
Nannup Music Festival kicks off from Friday through to Monday, with market stalls, artwear parades, music workshops, hip hop workshops, art workshops, a heap of artists including Dan Sultan, Jane Tyrell, The Regular Hunters and more.

PAPER CREATION
The Paper Architect details the story of a man who plays out wistful fantasies with elaborate paper creations, which come to life as he finishes them. The moving performance takes place at CIA Studios from Thursday to 7 Mar; part of PIAF.

 

STONED AND STARVING
Parquet Courts were one of the busiest in the business in 2014, releasing two albums Sunbathing Animal and Constant Nausea, the latter being under their alter-ego, Parkay Quarts. They play as part of PIAF on Friday at Chevron Festival Gardens.

 

 

 

 

 

 

HELPING HAND
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Jordie Lane is back in Australia – more specifically Perth – this weekend. As part of his national tour, he’ll be playing Mojo’s Bar on Friday with Canada’s Ruth Moody and Rowena Wise.

 

 

 

 

 

 

DREAM ON
Local psyche-gaze poppers Dream Rimmy are launching their self-titled EP at Mojo’s Bar this Saturday night. They’ll be joined by kraut kings French Rockets, post-rock pop band Runner, plus Hyla and Mugwump.

 

ON THE WAY
With Dan Sultan’s new solo EP, Dirty Ground out in November last year, he’s making his way around Australia into March. He stops by in Perth to play a show at Fremantle Arts Centre on Friday.

 

 

 

 

 

SUMMER LOVIN’
Delivering familiar staples from the past, as well as tracks from their new album Dancehall Days, The Beautiful Girls come to Fly By Night as part of the venue’s Summer Sound System segment. Get down there Saturday.
