In the latest edition of our On Exhibit series, we put Brisbane photographer Markus Ravik under the spotlight.
Markus has shot a host of gigs for The Music and theMusic.com.au during his tenure as one of our snappers, with a knack for capturing some our music's big names up close and personal. He's been on-ground at a number of Brisbane's most loved venues, like The Tivoli, The Hi-Fi as well as some of the big game arenas like Brisbane Entertainment Centre and Suncorp Stadium.
Markus has snapped a lot of heavy metal and hard rock gigs for us, from The Used to Violent Soho and most recently, the Foo Fighters, but he's also covered one of the world's biggest pop stars in Justin Timberlake and man of last year Chet Faker so nobody is off limits through his lens. Feast your eyes on some of his best and most favourite shots:
Long and funky with The Kooks on their recent Aussie tour
Chet Faker, our saviour
Loose as with the Dune Rats at The Zoo

Get to know Markus a little bit better:
Who's been your favourite artist to shoot and why?
That's a tough one... all I could say is that the artist that I've been most excited to shoot was Justin Timberlake. Mainly because I'm a fairly huge fan, and it was nothing short of a miracle to be given a photo pass for his show! So yeah... either JT or, more recently, Fucked Up this year at Soundwave - they’re absolutely insane to photograph!
I've got a few different bits and pieces I cart around:
Festival or regular show?
Definitely prefer the festivals (mostly), Soundwave probably being my highlight every year. There's usually a lot more going on to capture, on and off the stage at festivals. Also, now that I've gotten to know a lot of the Brisbane photographers, it's nice to catch up with everyone too. It’s always a good vibe between the photographers at a festival, they’re a great bunch!
Where can people check out your work?
