Nominations For The 2025 Queensland Music Awards Are Now Open

The preparations for the 2025 Queensland Music Awards (QMAs) are underway, as nominations for the awards open today (October 10). 

Artists in the Sunshine State are encouraged to self-nominate their works for the chance to win big in one of the 20 categories available. The winners will be decided by a panel of more than 100 national and international industry figures, 

Venues and festivals are also eligible to self-nominate in the People’s Choice categories of Regional Venue of the Year, Metro Venue of the Year, Accessible Venue of the Year, and Festival of the Year. Eligible nominees will be presented to the public for voting in early 2025.

Some of the big winners at this year’s QMAs were Jem Cassar-Daley, Cub Sport, Fisher & Kita Alexander, FELONY., Tori Forsyth, Busby Marou, Tia Gostelow, and Joff Bush.

Cassar-Daley, who won both the Song of the Year Award as well as the Pop Award, couldn’t speak more highly of the night:

“Receiving Song of the Year at this year’s QMAs is easily the biggest highlight of my career thus far. To be surrounded by my peers and Brisbane’s strong music community meant the absolute world to me and that night is full of moments I will never forget!

“As next year’s awards quickly approach, I encourage you all to nominate your releases. I always look forward to seeing Queensland musicians absolutely killing it and can’t wait to see our artists getting the recognition they deserve.”

According to The Music’s live review of the 2024 QMAs, it’s not a night to be missed.

“Accolades and acceptance speeches were split between performances from Queensland icons. Emerging Artist of the Year winner Jude York performed Mr Porcelain, with his breathy voice transporting the audience to another dimension entirely. Felony, who won the Rock Award for Everyone I Like Wants To Kill Themselves, performed their award-winning single, much to the head-banging delight of everyone in the room. Taitu’uga performed his song Falealili Manusamoa, which won the World Award, and rapper and poet Sachém brought the energy as he masterfully performed My City.

‘Another standout performance of the night was a historic collaboration between the Country Award nominees: Hayley Marsten, Melody Moko, and Tori Forsyth. In a beautiful tribute to Lifetime Achievement Award winner James Blundell, the artists came together for a rendition of Way Out West.”
