"The launch of 4000 Records is extremely exciting for me."

A brand new Brisbane boutique record label has officially launched.

4000 Records, brainchild of local music advocate and superfan John Russell, has been announced today with a 10-act strong roster already, including Cloud Tangle, The Double Happiness, Local Authority, Elder, Syrup, Go On, The Holy Rollercoasters, Fingerless, Edith Thomas Furey, Johnny Cyrus & His Band Of Ghosts and Marmaleene & The Moondusters

"The launch of 4000 Records is extremely exciting for me," Russell said.

"I'm constantly blown away by the calibre of local musicians and having the opportunity to work with some of them is very humbling.

"I'm hopeful that the label will serve to amplify our artists and the Brisbane scene at large whilst having a blast along the way."

4000 Records will host a hometown launch party at The Bearded Lady on 5 October which will also mark the label's first release - Local Authority's debut album, Negative Space.
