"...We want to continue to keep the Corner as a relevant and sustainable venue for the long term future."

If you happen to be in Melbourne over the next couple of weeks and swing by Richmond's famous The Corner Hotel, don't be surprised to see the beloved venue undergoing some substantial renovations.

The hugely popular establishment is having some massive works done to its rooftop (the first since 2005), as well as some minor changes to the front bar and band room (the first since 2011).

Speaking to theMusic, co-owner Mat Everett insists the renovations will not impact live music at the venue.

"The band room will operate at 100% with the changes planned to happen on non-show days," Everett says.

"The front bar will have areas shut down during the course of the renovation and the roof top with be closed for the duration of the renovation."

Everett believes the renovations will not only enhance the Corner, but will also help maintain its future.

"With new function spaces, bars and kitchens, operationally it will allow us to lift the level of service and offerings," he says.

"The renovations are being done because we want to continue to keep the Corner as a relevant and sustainable venue for the long term future.

"We want to continue to do what we can to make sure everyone who visits the Corner has a positive and memorable experience."

As usual, The Corner Hotel has some big names performing at the venue this month including Dave Graney, George Maple, Beach Slang and Spring King, Taste, Daryl Braithwaite and many more.
