Last month, Dermot Kennedy announced the impending launch of his new Irish-inspired music festival, MISNEACH. Today, the line-up for the inaugural Sydney edition has been announced.
Dermot Kennedy himself will headline the event. The Irish contingent will also feature hip-hop act Kneecap, The Frames in an Australian exclusive, singer-songwriter Sorcha Richardson, folk three-piece Amble, Dublin band The Scratch, songwriter Susan O’Neill, Cork-based rockers Cliffords, and rising hip-hop artist FYNCH.
As the event is heading to Australia for the first time, two Aussies are also on the bill: chameleonic singer-songwriter Matt Corby and soulful singer Meg Mac.
MISNEACH (pronounced mish-nyach, which means ‘Courage’ in Gaelic) will take place on St. Patrick’s Day Eve for the Sydney event: Sunday, 16 March, at The Domain.
In addition to live music, the festival will include mouth-watering food options and beverages—including Guinness on tap. Tickets to the inaugural event are on sale now, and more information is available on the Frontier Touring website.

Head here to learn more about MISNEACH – including its events in other cities, such as Boston.
MISNEACH aims to become a new, essential part of Sydney’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, with Kennedy looking to shine a fresh spotlight on contemporary and traditional Irish music.
A portion of the Sydney festival profit will benefit the Irish not-for-profit Barretstown, which provides a camp for children with serious illnesses, and Ireland Funds Australia.
Kennedy said about the event upon its reveal last month:
For so many years now I have watched the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in so many different cities with a massive sense of pride. I’ve always been so moved by the way Irish history and culture is celebrated all over the world. But I’ve also had the feeling that, for a country so rich in culture, I didn’t see it being represented fully in these events worldwide and I wondered, could we change that?
With this inaugural year we hope to begin an annual tradition that will enrich the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations around the world with music and the arts, by showcasing some of the best new and established Irish musical talent, as well as musical talent of the Irish diaspora.
We will also be giving back to the communities in Ireland and the host cities. I’ve been lucky enough to feel the love that the world has for Ireland and its music, and I’m so excited to be starting something very special.
