Jack Ladder Curates Original Soundtrack For iPad Series

The Sydney songwriter curates and composes a disturbing musical time-capsule to a cutting-edge horror series.

More Jack Ladder More Jack Ladder

Jack Ladder, the other Tim Rogers, will be releasing his soundtrack to the cutting-edge Australian sketch horror series Watch With Mother through Spunk Records. The brainchild of Oscar-winning Australian cinematographer Russell Boyd (who cut his teeth working on films like Gallipolli and Master & Commander), Watch With Mother is available exclusively for the iPad and Android tablets.

Exploiting the tension between disgust and humour, innocence and horror and the boundary between the audience and film, the series had immediate appeal for Ladder: “The first scene I was sent made me feel nauseous – in a good way. It had the nostalgic feel of an Australian television drama, something like A Country Practice, but starring Dennis Hopper as Frank from Blue Velvet."

For his musical contributions, Ladder selected from obscure '60s and '70s relics recorded by The Knickerbockers, Bill Woody and Sue Thompson and placed them alongside a series of his own original compositions. To bring his original compositions to life Ladder worked with the 'gloom-wave' collective Castratii to get an appropriately disturbing vibe.

Watch With Mother, Ladder's first foray into visual collaboration, will be released via iTunes on September 14. You can watch the official trailer for the series here.
