How Evermore Came Back From The Brink

20 September 2012 | 6:38 pm | Sally Anne Hurley

The band say they could have "easily" disbanded

Beloved New Zealand rockers Evermore have given us an insight into why they've made a comeback now after almost four years of obscurity.

In this week's The Drum Media, vocalist/guitarist Jon Hume admitted the band felt they still had enough musical chemistry to release more material.

“We could have easily gone, 'Oh, we've done this thing, we've had this band ten years and let's just go do something else now', but it really didn't feel like we've said all that we needed to say,” he said.

“And musically there's such good chemistry between the three of us that it's not something that we could walk away from. There's just so much good music, we can't just walk off and do something else.”

Hume said it made compete sense to the brothers to make their fourth album Follow The Sun together.

“If we all made [separate] music it would just be different and it's hard to put your finger on exactly why, but I guess just being brothers and making music together since we were kids, there's a certain chemistry in the whole writing process that I don't fully understand, but it works and we really enjoy it and it just felt really good, after a little bit of time working on other stuff, to get back to Evermore and make a record.”
