Here Are The Results From The Inaugural Hardest 100 Countdown

The Faction's inaugural Hardest 100 countdown went down on Saturday, with 15,000 votes tallied to find out the greatest metal songs of all time. 

Taking out the coveted #1 position was Architects' Doomsday, while metal legends Metallica came in at #2 with Master Of Puppets and #4 with One.

The US heavyweights took out the most entries alongside Aussie favourites Parkway Drive, both featuring seven times in the countdown. 

The Hardest 100 reflected five decades of metal, with the most popular decades being the '90s (29%), '00s (27%), '10s (23%), '80s (16%) and '70s (5%).

So popular was Saturday's countdown, it maxed out the servers, marking the biggest day of streaming in The Faction's history.

"The votes from The Faction listeners have produced a stunning list of songs that prove why metal is among the most successful genres in the world," The Faction Content Director, Tim Price, said.

"From Black Sabbath through to Architects, just as The Faction is a celebration of metal in all its forms, The Hardest 100 has well and truly delivered a flag to wave for the genre."
