Featuring the best local underground DJ and club talent from each city, focused on retro and classic beats
Having already built a reputation a year ago for being a big festival with a chill difference, Harvest has just announced a new stage for its Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane dates. The Garden Stage will feature local DJs and producers from each city's underground club scene, with the vibe focused on the retro crate-digging sounds, including funk, reggae, disco, dub, soul and worldbeat.
Melbournites will be treated to the dancefloor sounds of DJ Manchild, soul and RnB grooves from Pierre Baroni, eclectic mashup DJs Smoking Toddlers. Also featuring are Ding Dong Lounge resident Samariten, The Dublin Aunts, Stryka D, Black Caesar DJs, Obliveus, Mr Lob, CC:DISCO and Pablo.
Sydney's Garden Stage will feature the wild and unpredictable pysch duo Mikie & Tyson while Robbie Buck and Jack Shit will team up for a special edition of Bob and Jackie's Earthly Delights, nailing down classic joints from Central and South America. Conceptual dance party Mad Racket and brother and sister duo Basslines will also join in, alongside 80s P-Funk maestro Joey the Saint. Last but not least: Smokey LaBeef with some classy worldbeat stylings
Brisbane Harvest punters can scope out some funky breakbeats from DJ Slynk or a crate full of Motown swag from DJ Bacon. Also jumping on will be local hip-hop icon DJ Katch, the furiously eclectic mashup turntablist DJ Cutloose, 80s funk afficionado Thommy Bee and retro-soul crowd-pleaser Danny Cool.
Also coming exclusively to Brisbane will be the Cherrypicker Stage, which will feature some of Queensland's finest and most daring aerial and circus talent, to be hosted by outlaw performer and Green Room Award nominee Ghostboy.
Harvest's full music lineup includes Beck, Sigur Ros, Mike Patton's Mondo Cane, Grizzly Bear, Ben Folds Five, Silversun Pickups, Beirut, Santigold, Cake, The Dandy Warhols, Dexys, The Black Angels, Chromatics, Crazy P, Ozomatli, Liars, Fuck Buttons, Los Campesinos!, The War on Drugs, Dark, Dark Dark, River City Extension, Dark Horses and Winter People.
