First round of grants from Regional Venues Improvement Fund (RVIF).

More than $940,000 in upgraded equipment is to be shared among performing arts venues in Geraldton, Bunbury, Mandurah, Albany, Merredin, Narrogin and Port Hedland, improving access to the arts in local communities.

According to Culture and the Arts Minister John Day, the project will span upgrading stage lighting, introducing digital cinema projection, providing new audio systems, and installing new digital signage and stage monitoring systems. The grants were awarded through a panel comprising Country Arts WA, CircuitWest, the departments of Culture and the Arts and Regional Development, as well as the WA Local Government Association.

"This investment ensures regional arts organisations, artists and arts workers have the necessary support to deliver a variety of experiences to our regional communities." - Regional Development Minister Terry Redman.
