“F*cking GO!"
Never one to mince his words when it comes to UK politics, Thom Yorke has unleashed following news Liz Truss has resigned as Prime Minister.
The announcement, which sees Truss the shortest-serving PM in British history, arrives after a very turbulent time in office.
Taking to Twitter, the Radiohead legend, who is always quick to comment around major political news, said:
bring down this UK government, they do not speak for us, right the fuck now .. they have no authority, no mandate, no clue, cats in a bag tearing themselves to pieces while the country suffers in extreme distress. enough of this shit. shame on them. #GeneralElection2022

A week ago, The Daily Star established a live stream of lettuce in a blond wig having a disco to see if it would have a longer shelf-life than the Prime Minister. You can only imagine the jokes it led to (“We need a general election... But they won't lettuce”).
Ian "H" Watkins of Steps fame tweeted “Fucking GO! Take the hint!” before revealing his delight via the lettuce:

Canadian punk rockers Pup, who are currently in the UK, pointed out: “second consecutive British PM to resign when we’re visiting England this year 🧐.”
“Somebody make a four-headed grim reaper meme with the doors having the former PM’s faces.”
With Boris Johnson a contender to claim his former title, there’ll be no shortage of commentary in the coming weeks.
No @BorisJohnson no no no no no NO! Under absolutely no circumstances. Ever. Ever ever ever, d’you hear?

Although if he is reappointed, comedians across Britain will have a wealth of material; Bill Bailey spent a significant amount of time focussing on Johnson during recent Aussie shows, despite the fact he was no longer in office.
Truss' statement arrived overnight:
Others to share their thoughts today include Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker, rapper Headie One, comedian Joe Lycett and more.
This fucking government is like malware you can’t remove. General election NOW.
