Emo Pioneers Braid Release First Video In Sixteen Years

Their new album 'No Coast' is available now

The 2010s emo revival continues unabated, with seminal '90s act Braid being the latest second-wave band, after the likes of Mineral and Sunny Day Real Estate, to re-emerge from obscurity — only, unlike their fellow middle-aged peers, Braid have put out a brand new studio full-length, the acclaimed No Coast, as part of their reunion/return to duty.

With the album now freely available to buy (and if you're a fan of the genre, you really should do so), the band has unveiled their first accompanying music video in sixteen years, for new single Bang.

Unfortunately, the band members themselves were unable to appear in the video, but director Max Moore has nonetheless done a pretty damn fine job of providing the visual backing to Braid's perennially heart-on-sleeve strains.

"We wanted to have some interesting visuals and have a video where we didn't have to do a performance," guitarist/vocalist Chris Broach told USA Today.

"The thing about doing a performance video is that you have to all be in the same place at the same time, and with all of us spread out [across Chicago, Milwaukee and Nashville], it's difficult to make the time."

Watch the clip for Bang below, and be thankful the emo movement has come out the other side of the 2000s with more than a modicum of dignity.
