The lauded comedian has lined up seven dates around the country this December
Acclaimed comedian Em Rusciano is adding to her achievements for 2016 by following up the November release of her eagerly awaited memoir, Try Hard — Tales From The Life Of A Needy Overachiever, with a similarly named seven-date tour around the country this December.
As if writing and releasing an entire book wasn't a satisfactory-enough use of her time, the celebrated performer and stand-up will embark on The Try Hard Tour from Thursday 8 December, when she kicks off the entirely all-ages (well, recommended 16+) run at Brisbane's QPAC. Her sojourn also includes appearances in Sydney (Enmore Theatre), Adelaide (Thebarton Theatre), Hobart (Theatre Royal), Melbourne (Palais Theatre), Newcastle (Wests City) and Townsville, where she closes out the tour at the city's Entertainment Centre (RIP, Crocodiles) on Saturday 17 December.
"It's called 'Try Hard' because I do and I am one — always have been, always will be," Rusciano said of her book (and, by association, the tour). "It's traditionally a put-down in Australia. I was called it relentlessly in high school; I thought perhaps I'd reclaim it and make it something good. I hope you like it, it's the best thing I’ve ever made that isn't alive."
Each show will, as always, feature the talents of Rusciano's father, Vince (aka "Vincie"), and will be followed by a 30-minute Q&A with Em herself.
