Dr Brown wins Melbourne International Comedy Festival's Barry Award

The man with the unpronounceable show name, Befrdfgth, wins Australian comedy's most prestigious prize.

Joining the likes of The Mighty Boosh (2000), Daniel Kitson (2007), and Kristen Schaal/Nina Conti (2008), Dr Brown has won the Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2012's Barry Award for his show, Befrdfgth. The physical absurdist/clown beat the likes of Dave Gorman, Wil Anderson, Felicity Ward, Paul Foot, and Tim Key to take out the title. Dr Brown, along with Stuart Bowden, also took out the award for best kids' show for Dr Brown Brown Brown Brown Brown: The Kids' Show.

Matt Okine (Being Black & Chicken & Shit) and Ronny Chieng (The Ron Way) tied for the title of Melbourne Airport Best Newcomer Award, whilst Bob Franklin and Steven Gates picked up the Piece Of Wood (the comics' choice award) for their show, Stubborn Monkey Disorder.

The award for best local independent show, the Golden Gibbo, went to Lessons With Luis' Luis presents Kidney Kingdom, whilst Wil Anderson picked up the Bulmer's People's Choice Award for his show, Wilarious.
