Local DJ Dimatik - part of the Melbourne bounce scene - was supposed to make his live debut in Cambodia today, but tragedy struck the venue he was supposed to play at.

Sharing a screenshot from an article in The Guardian about what's happened, the Rave Until We Die DJ wrote on Facebook: "Tomorrow night I was meant to make my debut in Cambodia playing an event at this exact Casino Casino in Poi Pet but I’ve just received the news of this horrific tragedy last night.

"My heart goes out to everyone in Cambodia that has been affected by this & I’m wishing those injured a safe & speedy recovery, I’m seriously speechless for words. Absolutely Heartbreaking."

According to The Guardian's Samantha Lock and agencies, at least 19 people have died, but as rescue teams haven't made it to all areas, that number could rise. The Thai public broadcaster, PBS, notes that 50 Thai people - including hotel staff and customers - have been trapped in the casino complex.

Dimatik's 2015 collaboration alongside Monik and Carroch, Giratina, has reached over 6 million streams. The local DJ has featured at Tomorrowland and Ultra Music Festival, while he's caught the attention of famous DJs such as Tiesto, David Guetta, Armin Van Buren, and Hardwell.

In a review of one of Dimatik's latest tracks, Live For The Night featuring Firelite, EDMreviewer wrote, "Firelite introduces himself with a brutal kick that immediately smashes in after the expected orchestral + motivational speech buildup à la Dimatik. Both creators showed their best version of themselves; I felt amazed by the elegance of the buildup, then impressed by the Hardstyle lead, kick and bassline.

"Usual formula, with initial anti-climax, and more melodic structure in the second part… Joking, because there’s a surprising third drop switch with Dimatik’s Hard-Psy! I was expecting the usual clichès, this idea almost made me jump out of my chair!"
