30 Days, 30 Songs.

More Death Cab For Cutie More Death Cab For Cutie

While the world watches on as Donald Trump continues his quest to become the next President of the United States, a number of big-name musicians are banding together to ensure that doesn't happen.

Created by writer Dave Eggers (and the team behind 2012's 90 Days, 90 Reasons project to re-elect Barack Obama) 30 Days, 30 Songs has the sole purpose of creating a 'Trump-Free America' and names such as Death Cab For Cutie, REM, Jim James and more have joined in on the cause in the form of writing new and unheard tracks.

30 Days, 30 Songs will release one song per day until Election Day, which is being kicked off today by Death Cab's original, Million Dollar Loan.

"Lyrically, Million Dollar Loan deals with a particularly tone deaf moment in Donald Trump's ascent to the Republican nomination," frontman Ben Gibbard says of the song.

"While campaigning in New Hampshire last year, he attempted to cast himself as a self-made man by claiming he built his fortune with just a 'small loan of a million dollars' from his father. Not only has this statement been proven to be wildly untrue, he was so flippant about it. It truly disgusted me.

"Donald Trump has repeatedly demonstrated that he is unworthy of the honor and responsibility of being President of the United States of America, and in no way, shape or form represents what this country truly stands for. He is beneath us."

Aimee Mann, Thao Nguyen and Bhi Bhiman are just a few artists who are dropping songs this week, while REM are also set to release a never-before-released live track.

All proceeds generated by 30 Days, 30 Songs will be donated to the Center for Popular Democracy and their efforts to achieve Universal Voter Registration for all Americans.
