AC/DCAC/DC frontman Brian Johnson has revealed the band have firmed up plans to record their first studio album since 2008's Black Ice, telling a US radio station that plans have been made to enter a Canadian studio this May.
"Well, you'll be the first one to know, really, because we've been denying anything, 'cause we weren't sure,” he told The Gater 98.7 in Palm Beach. “But I think we'll be going into the studio in May in Vancouver. Which means, we should be getting ready.”
One would suspect that the Vancouver studio in question would be The Warehouse Studio, where both Black Ice and previous LP, 2000's Stiff Upper Lip, were recorded.
There have been whispers of the band doing something special to celebrate 40 years since their inception, and Johnson confirmed there were plans in the works to mark the anniversary with a series of shows to pay tribute to their fans.
“It's been 40 years of the band's existence,” he said. “So I think we're gonna try to do 40 gigs, 40 shows, to thank the fans for their undying loyalty. I mean, honestly, our fans are just the best in the world, and we appreciate every one of them.
"So, like I said, we'll have to go out, even though we're getting a bit long in the tooth. You know what?! It's been four years [since we last went out on the road], and I'm really looking forward to it.”
AC/DC last toured Australia in February and March of 2010.
