CollegeHumor Announces 2015 Australian Tour

5 March 2015 | 4:12 pm | Staff Writer

The folks behind the web's "other" favourite comedy site are bringing their irreverence Down Under this June

In the weird and wonderful landscape of the World Wide Web, populated as it is with rivers of porn and cat photos, it's no small feat that US comedy site CollegeHumor has, since its inception 15 years ago, risen above the masses to become one of the foremost such destinations on the entire internet.

Soon, Australians will have the chance to get close to some of CH's premier funnypeople, as the site has announced it will be bringing its live show (hey, that's a thing now) Down Under for a run of dates this June.

Part of CollegeHumor's success is undoubtedly due to Amir Blumenfeld and Jake Hurwitz's twice-weekly web series Jake & Amir, a Webby Award-winning show about the writers' odd-couple-style friendship, as well as regular contributions from prominent writer-comedians such as Streeter Seidell, who also teams up with Blumenfeld for the site's Prank War shorts (which later led to a full series on MTV called Pranked).

Individually, the three are some of the most recognisable faces among the LA web-comedy community, elder statesmen of sorts in a burgeoning field where all it takes is the right sketch to set your inbox alight with questions and friend requests, while the collective live show is a nod of sorts to many of CollegeHumor's favourite features.

Jake, Amir and Streeter will be riffing with Aussie audiences from Tuesday, 9 June, when they hit The Gov, in Adelaide; from there, they'll head to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane before winding up their southern sojourn in Perth, at the Astor, on Sunday, 14 June.

Tickets for the 2015 CollegeHumor tour will go on sale from 10am next Wednesday, 11 March, and will be available via Ticketek and Oztix, as well as the Corner Hotel (for Melbourne's show). For more information, see theGuide or check The Music App
