Thy Art Is Murder vocalist CJ McMahon wants to trade up. He’s after a bigger, better fishing boat and in order to score it, he has two items available for trade: a Cristiano Ronaldo Kaboom PSA 10 (soccer card) with a value of around $2-$2.5k AUD.
What’s getting the comment section on Instagram worked up, however, is the Thy Art Is Murder test press of Holy War up for trade, numbered four out of five. That’s more than enough to get fans prepared to trade literally anything to get their hands on it.
Holy War is the third Thy Art Is Murder album, released in 2015 via UNFD and Nuclear Blast. The album was produced and mixed by END’s Will Putney.
The record has a strong focus on the subjects of child abuse, animal rights, religion, politics, and war and contains a feature from Parkway Drive’s Winston McCall on the most metal track of 2015, Coffin Dragger. Holy War peaked at #7 in Australia and #3 on Billboard’s Top Hard Rock Albums.
Upon the release of Holy War, we said it was an album “so heavy that your ears will burst like cane toads under an 18-wheeler.”
We elaborated in an album review, “Thy Art Is Murder have managed to make a record that is heavier than their breakthrough sophomore, Hate. Not only is it heavier, but it's also just as good, if not better.
“The subtle differences and improvements in instrumentation (way more groove and projected screams for example) and sonic characteristics (the gloriously deep mix) add to the already delectable stirring pot of audible glory that the band provided three years ago. Thy Art Is Murder have somehow managed to make an album that is heavier than Hate. With Holy War, Thy Art Is Murder have served up yet again one of the best metal albums in recent memory.”
